Humidity Control

Probably the biggest enemy your piano faces is humidity, or rather, variations in humidity.  Most pianos are designed to operate at about 42% relative humidity.  As the humidity in a room varies from that amount, the wooden parts in a piano expand and contract.  This can lead to loose or tight parts, cracked soundboards, loose pinblocks and rusty strings, among other things.  We highly recommend the installation and use of  Dampp-Chaser Humidity Control Systems.  These systems provide excellent control of humidity in and around your piano, will make your piano’s tuning last longer and be much more stable, as well as extending the life of your piano.

“Music should strike fire from the heart of man, and bring tears from the eyes of woman.”  Ludwig Van Beethoven
