RAYNOR PIANO SERVICE

Basic Tuning—Our fee is $100

After our pre-tuning inspection, we will tune the piano to A=440 pitch, or to some other pitch you specify.  We use a state-of-the-art Sanderson Accu-Tuner electronic tuning device and store your piano’s optimal tuning for later reference.  Pianos are designed to sound their best when tuned to A=440 Hz.  Most often the piano is tuned to an “equal temperament”, although other historic temperaments can also be accommodated.  Please call us.

Pitch Raising—Our fee is $50 for each pitch raise required, not to exceed $100 in addition to basic tuning fee

It is often said that to tune a piano, it must first be in tune.  If your piano is in an unstable environment or has not been tuned for over a year, the strings may have stretched and greatly lowered the pitch of the piano, as compared to A=440 Hz.  If this is the case, we would perform a “pitch raise” on the piano.  Depending on how far out of tune your piano is, it may require one or more pitch raises before the fine tuning can be done.

“Nothing separates the generations more than music. By the time a child is eight or nine, he has developed a passion for his own music that is even stronger than his passions for procrastination and weird clothes.”
